Evolution from Web 1.0 to Web 3.0 - Internet Technologies

 Hi guys,

Thanks for coming back for another weekly blog update ☺

This week I am discussing the  web transformation from 1.0 to 3.0

1.0 - Read Only

This was the originating point of the web in the early 1990s which was built using HTML.

Hypertext Mark-up Language is an elementary language used to design website visuals. HTML meant that this web version was static and user engagement was unsupported.

The earliest web browser was Netscape Navigator which had basic features:

  1. Search bars
  2. Backspace buttons
  3. Bookmarks

Only people with technical "know-how" were able to generate content as there was no functionality for commenting on sites because of the infancy of coding.

2.0 - Social

The web evolved to version 2.0 in the early 2000s because complex coding was integrated such as CSS and JavaScript.

This version of the web allowed more user interactivity such as sharing, tagging and commenting on posts on social media platforms such as:

  • Facebook
  • YouTube
  • Reddit
  • LinkedIn

The more advanced JavaScript allowed for real-time updates to people feeds which has proven to be very engaging. Web 2.0 social media platforms are very popular with advertisements and generate Billions in revenue. The more addicting their sites the more ad revenue they generate!

3.0 Futuristic

The web is currently undergoing extraordinary evolution once again! I will assume the reader is not living under a rock and is familiar with the revolutionary AI chat GPT.

Blockchain technology is helping to build a more user-focused environment. Blockchain is the decentralisation of information such as finance and social media. This is being developed for greater transparency in a growingly corrupt world.

Semantic Web Technologies such as Resource Description Framework analyses the context of data by making human - data readable for machines. This advancement in machine learning has great potential to make our world more connected and to improve search engine optimisation to more personable better results.

I hope this video gets you as exited about 3.0 as me!

Thanks for reading guys - make sure to leave your thoughts in the comment section below.

Introduction to Dara

Hi everyone, My name is Dara Egan. I am a twenty-two-year student living in rural Ireland. I am pursuing a degree in general business specialised in economics and finance from the South East Technological University (SETU). I am a fourth-year student so the pressure is on!  For the last two years of college, I have been working weekends at Waterford Credit Union (WCU), but I am not doing that currently to allow me time to focus on my studies. I have spent the last eight months working as a KYC analyst at the Bank of New York Mellon. This was an enriching experience. I encourage anyone interested in the finance industry to undertake a summer internship if their course doesn't facilitate it because the training and development given to you is top-notch. The South East of Ireland - Why Tech should Flock

Hi everyone & welcome back to my blog! This week I will be sharing my thoughts on if Tech firms should invest in the South-East of Irelan d - The counties of Wexford, Waterford, Kilkenny, Tipperary, and Carlow . Overall , I think the South – East is an excellent choice .   W hat are tech companies looking for from their location choices ?   Good Infrastructure – The South East of Ireland has good infra structure Including the N25 Waterford by - pass & the N25 New Ross by-pass. Modern infrastructure allows employees to travel to the office reliably and efficiently from a commuting county. For example, the South- East Infrastructure system is better suited than the West of Ireland.   Who do we want to Invest in the South – East?   The magic 7 Tech companies: Amazon, Alphabet, Apple, Meta Platforms, Microsoft, Nvidia and Tesla , all which have offices in Ireland but Nvidia. This i s due to Irelands low rate o f corporation tax . These companies make up over 30% o

The Rise of Digital Payment systems

Hi Everyone and welcome back to my weekly blog post! This week I am sharing a fascinating topic with you -  The rise of digital payment systems.Digital payments are payments that happen electronically. Popular payment systems include credit and debit cards, phone payments such as Google Pay, and modern-day currencies like Bitcoin. E-commerce in the early 2000s kickstarted the rise in digital payment systems - people would use their debit/ credit cards to make payments.  Technology has advanced past debit cards - Contactless payments are the name of the game in today's world! Digital wallets allow consumers to store their bank cards on their smartphones and smart watches. Using near-field communication technology (NFC) a chip from the customer's device signals to a chip in the seller's card machine to carry out the transaction. The  COVID-19 pandemic helped further popularise this technology as consumers made the switch from cash as recommended by governments to prevent tra
